His wife Carolyn of 35 years at the time, later communicated with President Beckham the following:

Thank you for your kind words. He loved his time serving his Heavenly Father and the people in Canada on his mission.  We have all heard many great stories about his mission and even some of the grandkids remember some of the songs and games he taught us from his mission. He always spoke very highly of his mission president and wife.  Filipo never wavered from his faith or his love of the gospel. He always talked about the good times on his mission to us. I had heard most of them before through his letters he wrote to me while on his mission. He was a hard worker and always provided for our family. As a reward, the Lord took him quickly. He didn't suffer. I know he still watches over us. And if he has any say in the matter, I'm sure he is still doing missionary work. Thank you for your role in helping him become the man he was. He loved the Lord, his family and serving others.
