David Bennion Obituary

David Grant Bennion, 63, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dave was born March 6, 1953, in Idaho Falls to Grant Bennion and Betty LaRue Pulley Bennion. He was raised in Idaho Falls and attended Linden Park Elementary. His family moved to the Clark, Idaho, area when he was 10 years old. He attended Rigby schools and graduated from Rigby High School.

David served an LDS Mission to the Alberta-Saskatchewan Mission from 1972-1974. On Jan. 10, 1975, he married Marie Lounsbury in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with one daughter and four sons.

In 1999, Dave was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that caused him permanent disabilities which, through his determination, he was able to overcome and live life to its fullest.

Dave was known by his family and friends as one who served others, whether helping people move when he was younger to plowing snow for neighbors after his accident.

Dave was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many capacities, including elders quorum president, as a counselor in the bishopric, as high priests group leader and served on the high council.

Dave was a member of the I.F.S.A Shooting Club and was a HAM radio operator. He enjoyed archery, shooting, reloading, N Scale Model Trains and collecting various things. Dave loved riding motorcycles and affectionately had a nickname for everyone, including himself, "The Dr."

My Condolense to the family of Brother David Bennion, It was a pleasure to serve with David in the mission field back in the day, Even though David was older and had a year ahead of me in the field but I got a chance to split off with him and meet during district meeting and zone conference and we did built a great brotherhood together and was shock to hear of his passing, he was a great soul and looks like he had the same passion as I have in riding bikes, still have the drive of riding when i can, but the older you get you have the tendency of slowing down and abit careful, I just want to thank you for the opportunity to serve with David when we had that chance of serving our father In heaven and serving him in our wards , branches and in the stake, memories will be the thing I ll have of Dave, my the lord sooth your hearts and mind and the medicine of prayer be answered in time of need. May the lord bless you all.
